Paper Craft Apple Orchard

Nature Craft Apple Tree Orchard

This paper craft apple tree orchard looks amazing but is surprisingly simple to make.

Green paper, red tissue paper apples and a couple of recycled loo roll tubes, dead easy.

This little apple orchard would make a great table centre piece and is an ideal craft for harvest festival.

Okay for little ones but adaptable for different ages.

Materials

Craft Apple Orchard

  • Green paper or any colour paper painted green.
  • Brown and green poster paint.
  • Red, orange and green tissue paper.
  • Two toilet roll tubes.
  • Scissors to cut out shapes.
  • PVA glue or glue stick.
  • Card for the orchard base.
  • Plastic table cloth or newspapers to work on.
  • Pinny or apron for the little ones (and the adults if you’re messy).

Step 1 – Prep your toilet roll ‘trees’

Snip the ends of the loo roll tubes to give them a base to glue to the card base.

The card base can be the side of a cereal box or any recycled card or cardboard.

Stick your ‘trees’ onto the base with PVA glue.

Step 2 – Cut out your foliage shapes

Craft Apple Orchard

Cut out your paper tree foliage shapes – 2 per tree. They need to be big enough so that when you glue them together you can slip them over a cardboard tube.

If you haven’t got green paper then use any paper and paint it green.

Step 3 – Tissue paper apples

Cut or tear pieces of red and orange tissue paper in roughly 1 inch squarish pieces. The exact shape isn’t important because then you have to scrubble them up to make a ball.

Step 4 – Paint your base and tree trunks

Paint the base green, little ones can do this really well.

You don’t have to paint the tree trunks brown, but it will take your apple tree orchard to the next level – not that nature craft is a competitive sport!

To disguise the ‘tree roots’ or the folded bits at the bottom of the toilet rolls, glue on a few bits of tissue paper. Again this isn’t exactly essential but does give a great finish. If you don’t have green tissue paper then the common white will do because you can paint over it.

Step 5 – Stick your apples onto the ‘foliage’

Put half a dozen or so blobs of PVA glue around the green foliage shapes and stick on a selection of red and orange tissue paper apples.

Step 6 – Glue your foliage onto the tree trunks

Spread PVA glue around the edges of the foliage pieces and the tops of the tree trunks.

Wrap the foliage pieces around the tree trunks and keep them pinched for a couple of minutes until they stick.

Your little craft apple orchard makes a great gift for doting Grandparents, especially in the autumn.

Mods for different ages

  • Older ones can have a crack at every part of this project.
